Perverse doctrine stands for improper teachings. The Golden Palace is the abode of the Supreme Deity. To mend faults means to remedy one’s misdeeds. If people do not dismiss my scripture as false teaching, then — because human hearts are corrupt, the Supreme Deity repeatedly sends calamities — I shall intercede and mend your transgressions from the Golden Palace, lessening and even eliminating the disasters that befall you.
Should the purport of this scripture lack thoroughness and precision, I shall look to learned talents to revise and correct it.
This means that where the ideas set forth in the Scripture on Abstaining from Licentiousness are not subtle or clear enough, I hope persons of erudition will proofread and amend it, so that it may attain complete perfection.
If its wording is not wholly refined, I further beseech renowned scholars to offer their critique.
Wording refers to the phrasing and diction of the text. Where the language is not entirely polished and elegant, I earnestly beg celebrated literati both near and far to point out its flaws and make revisions, likewise bringing the work to full perfection.
Alas, all you people of the world! You burn incense morning and evening, and recite my Peach‑Garden Scripture scroll. You pay homage at dawn and dusk, and read my sincere admonitory writings.
Morning denotes dawn, and evening denotes dusk. The Divine Sovereign observes that people in the world burn pure incense and perform reverent rites, reciting the Peach‑Garden Scripture scroll and reading his admonitions written with sincere concern. Their aspiration toward goodness is indeed praiseworthy.
Since you honor me as a divine being, how could I fail to regard you as newborn infants?
A newborn infant constantly requires protection. Since mortals revere me as a divinity, how could I not protect you as though you were my own children?
Since you wish to escape the sea of suffering, you must sever evil demons.
